Jeff McBride Magic and Mystery School. So you think you know magic? You might even be a successful performing magician. If you want to learn the tricks of the trade, there is someplace to go, but be prepared to leave your ego at the door.

Sequestered in a quiet suburban neighborhood in Las Vegas, lies the unpretentious Jeff McBride Magic and Mystery School. Jeff’s house is adorned with the trappings of international travel, and Jeff acknowledges that is his 40 plus year career, he has performed in 47 countries.

Students come from the U.S. and abroad to study under him. At the Sept. 12-14 weekend Master Class there were a few young novices, but most of the attendees were skilled in the basics. Some brought samples of their shows on DVD. One “student”, Brock Gill, showed a well-orchestrated illusion he performed before several hundred people. At the end he dived from atop a tall ladder onto a collapsing tube. If the participant he chose from the audience had picked the alternate tube, he would have been impaled on a sword. The “trick” was well done, but it could have been better!

McBride brilliantly dissected Gill’s performance educating the class on how to eliminate the mental escape routes, be truly “random”, and know the demographics of the audience. McBride emphasized the importance of choosing the right music and his strongest advice was to “put the magic first and start with a bang, a flash, or a loud distraction”. These, and many other suggestions, informed the magicians to better understand how to engage the audience with a visceral impact. McBride noted that, “Theater is interrupted silence.” The world is noisy, and the magician must capture the moment.

Jeff McBride is recognized as one of the most influential artists in the field of magic. Watching him fine-tune the magical arts attests to his mastery of illusion and presentation. NGO’s Neanderthal Code. I’m a dedicated National Geographic Channel addict. I record “Locked Up Abroad”, “Taboo”, “Lockdown”, and “The Dog Whisperer”. I don’t even have a dog!

On September 21st NGO aired the first showing of their new program on the rehabilitated Neanderthals. That commercial is everywhere and even runs between my dreams. NGO has a great PR campaign!

I don’t know how NGO cracked the code, but advertising-in-dreams is brilliant!

Why did Neanderthals go extinct? I had the answer that alluded scientists for years: No one wanted to mate with them!

Not only was the dumb brute, dwarf image of Neanderthals wrong, so I was! They were the movie stars of pre-recorded history. Cro-Magnon females liked what they saw.

Even though Neanderthals were our closest relatives and thought to have led a separate existence from Homo Sapiens, as a species they were believed to have died out. Not so! Now scientists say: They walk among us.

Scientists say Neanderthals did not die out: “There is a little bit of Neanderthal probably in all of us. Those genes helped people … have more offspring in the long term. So Neanderthal genes contributed to the human story. They’re part of what made us human.”

If scientists have the DNA, can they clone a Neanderthal?

The Defunct “Clone Jesus” Project. My hopes were dashed. The website said: “The Second Coming Project is a not-for-profit organization devoted to bringing about the Second Coming of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, as prophesied in the Bible, in time for the 2,000th anniversary of his birth.

“Our intention is to clone Jesus, utilizing techniques pioneered at the Roslin Institute in Scotland, by taking an incorrupt cell from one of the many Holy Relics of Jesus' blood and body that are preserved in churches throughout the world, extracting its DNA, and inserting into an unfertilized human egg (oocyte), though the now-proven biological process called nuclear transfer. The fertilized egg, now the zygote of Jesus Christ, will be implanted into the womb of a young virginal woman (who has volunteered of her own accord), who will then bring the baby Jesus to term in a second Virgin Birth.

If all goes according to plan, the birth will take place on December 25, 2000, thus making Anno Domini 2000 into Anno Domini Novi 1, and all calendrical calculations will begin anew.”

How Can This Be Possible?

(a.) Modern cloning technology enables us to clone any large mammal - including humans - using just a single cell from an adult specimen. (b.) Throughout the Christian world are churches that contains Holy Relics of Jesus's body: his blood, his hair, his foreskin. Unless every single one of these relics is a fake, this means that cells from Jesus' body still survive to this day. (c.) We are already making preparations to obtain a portion of one of these relics, extract the DNA from one of its cells, and use it to clone Jesus.

No longer can we rely on hope and prayer, waiting around futilely for Jesus to return. We have the technology to bring him back right now: there is no reason, moral, legal or Biblical, not to take advantage of it. IN ORDER TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM SIN, WE MUST CLONE JESUS TO INITIATE THE SECOND COMING OF THE CHRIST.”

I strongly doubt The Vatican allowed The Second Coming Project access to any DNA from its Jesus relics (didn’t I read someplace that some strands containing blood from the Shroud of Turin were never returned? In 1988 three radiocarbon laboratories at Arizona, Cambridge, and Zurich received samples of the Shroud of Turin to be tested with the carbon 14 dating method, but some samples were never returned because they were “lost”), but we know that many scientists have Neanderthal DNA. Its one thing to have trace genetic material in us, its quite another to be raising a pure-breed Neanderthal.

Two Men & One Biological Baby. I’m following the news that scientists are working on giving male couples the ability to both father a child. The process would use egg nuclear transfer, which would "mate" the genetic material from two sperm cells to create a biological child from two men. Theoretically, the technique could be used to introduce sperm DNA into an enucleated egg, fertilize this "male egg" with another sperm and gestate the resulting embryo in a surrogate mother. A November 2005 article said that “Breakthroughs in stem-cell technology could soon lead to 'non-traditional' parents having their own offspring, not always with the help of a woman's genes, some scientists saying within the next four years. The program takes a historical look at the history of illegal CIA experiments beginning with the “Cold War” and our government’s desperation to combat the spread of Communism at any means. The CIA launched a highly classified, top secret research program into the covert use of biological and chemical agents. Unsuspecting Americans were subjected to germ warfare and mind control. Psychiatric patients, prisoners, even unwitting members of the public are exposed to a experiments designed to facilitate interrogations, induce amnesia and program new behavior. Rap music, ritalin, hillbilly heroin, and celebrity sex tapes are the new forms of CIA mind control. And they are working!

The Nazis doctors experimented on concentration camp prisoners. Many scholars are now discovering in reputable medical literature multiple references to Nazi experiments, or republished works of former SS doctors. It is well known that Nazi hypothermia data has been used in modern research. Human experimentation is still a common practice in medicine today, but with a consent form and some cash paid to the participants.

Is biological experimentation still ongoing? If not in the U.S., it is elsewhere to stunning effect. Russia is still showing off its expertise in biological terrorism. Former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko (pictured) should have known better than to keep insulting Vladimir Putin. And in 2004 Ukrainian Viktor Yushchenko (before and after photos) was poisoned with dioxin. In perfect revenge fashion, Yushchenko’s movie star looks were targeted. He recovered and is currently the President of Ukraine.

Movies I Saw This Week. “Flash of Genius” starring Greg Kinnear (YES); “Ghost Town” co-starring Greg Kinnear (YES); “The Lucky Ones” not with Greg Kinnear (NO); and “The Duchess” starring Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, and the great Charlotte Rampling who keeps her clothes on (YES).

The Tattoo Craze Continues. Are you sick and tired of seeing everyone, even your grandma at the nursing home, with tats? Here are the latest in tattoos - white-ink and UV tattoos. When Lindsay Lohan showed off her white tattoo, it became the latest “must-have” accessory in Hollywood. They are extremely painful to have applied – and even then they are so subtle you can barely see them. But white-ink tattoos have become an overnight sensation. The permanent designs are applied with a regular tattoo gun, yet use ink that is thicker and of a higher quality than normal to stand out on the skin. Most white ink tattoos look like scars, and they are sometimes mistaken for brandings.

UV tattoos or blacklight tattoos are tattoos made with a special ink that is only visible under a blacklight. They are particularly popular in the raver subculture.

The tattoos can be completely invisible in normal light, although scarring from the tattoo machine in the application process may remain, and therefore still show. A UV tattoo becomes visible under blacklight, when it glows in colors ranging from white to purple, depending on the ink chosen. Colored ink is also available, where the ink is visible in normal light (as with a regular tattoo) but the ink will glow vividly under UV light. Some UV inks are not as bright under normal light as normal tattoo ink and are considered not as vibrant.

Your New Must-Have. With the airline charging for checked luggage and the one carry-on rule soon in effect (British Airways started the practice), we must all choose wearing our stuff.
