Las Vegas: Satan Vacations Here

Are You Descended from Genghis Khan?, 2006 CineVegas Film Festival, ETs: Where Are They?, “X” at Aladdin, A Blind Item, Bonefish Grill, Burlesque Legends at Celebrity Theater, Classical Mystery Tour at LV Hilton, The Tomb of Jesus, and more...

I’d like to include an interesting item from a book I just finished called “The Murderer Next Door: Why The Mind Is Designed To Kill” by evolutionary psychologist David M. Buss. Genghis Khan (1167-1227) “explicitly relished the great sexual access he attained from the conquered tribes: “The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see their near and dear bathed in tears, to ride their horses and sleep on the white bellies of their wives and daughters.”

Buss later relates that blood samples taken from sixteen populations from around the former Mongolian empire showed that 8 percent of the men bore a chromosomal “signature” characteristic of the Mongol rulers. “This means,” says Buss, “that an astonishing sixteen million men in that region, roughly half a percent of the entire population of men on earth today, are likely descendants of Genghis Khan.”

In terms of the human evolutionary sweepstakes, “war was a means of driving rival male lineages extinct, with the victorious contributing disproportionately to the descendant population.”

Whether it is called ethnic cleansing or genocide it is the high-functioning reptilian brain at play. Darwin keeps winning. The famous triune brain theory developed by Paul MacLean outlines that we have three distinct brains that emerged successively in the course of evolution and now co-inhabit the human skull. Our reptilian brain includes the main structures found in a reptile's brain: the brainstem and the cerebellum. In essence, a part of all mammals, including humans, is still a reptile. It is the part of our brain which is the deepest and, on an evolutionary scale, the most ancient. It controls our basic needs such as self-defense, reproduction and digestion.

The 2006 CineVegas Film Festival. Thanks to Bill Clark, my daily report from CineVegas will be posted on FromTheBalcony.com starting Friday, June 9th.

It’s the hottest ticket in Las Vegas: movies and the best parties – every night - around town at the city’s top venues. The highly-anticipated 2006 CineVegas Film Festival opens on June 9th and spotlights sex, adultery, drugs and dangerous social circles, and that’s only its opening film. Director of Programming Trevor Groth announced that the eighth annual festival, which returns to the Palms Casino Resort and Brenden Theatres from June 9-17 starts off with the Paul Dinello comedy “Strangers With Candy” the prequel to the Comedy Central series. In the film, a 46-year-old ex-junkie ex-con (Amy Sedaris, pictured below, in her tribute to “American Beauty”) returns to high school in a bid to start her life over, only to confront the most dangerous gang of all – the cool kids.

CineVegas has become a mega-event with a constant stream of movies and VIP parties. Go to www.cinevegas.com for a complete list of this year’s films. Now in its eighth year, CineVegas is a destination event. Once again I will be seeing as many movies as I can, attending all the panel discussions (the most fun!), and turning up at every party. Here is a rundown of the CineVegas passes that are available.

Pass A: This pass will get you into all films and passholder events happening the first 5 days of the festival: including Opening night film and party Friday night and all films Saturday-Tuesday (10 or more films to choose from each day starting at noon); all panels Saturday-Tuesday; all tributes Saturday-Tuesday; all evening Festival parties Saturday-Tuesday. This pass also allows entry to the CineVegas HQ. Dates Valid: From June 9, 2006 to June 13, 2006. Price: $300.00

Pass B: This pass will get you into all films and passholder events happening the last 4 days of the festival: All films Wednesday-Saturday (10 or more films to choose from each day starting at noon); all panels Wednesday-Friday; all tributes Wednesday-Friday; all evening Festival parties Wednesday-Friday; Closing night film and party Saturday night. This pass also allows entry to the CineVegas HQ; Dates Valid: From June 14, 2006 to June 17, 2006. Price: $300.00.

Pass C: This pass will get you into all films and all passholder events: Opening night film and party Friday night; all films (10 or more films to choose from each day starting at noon); all panels; all tributes; all evening Festival parties; Closing night film and party Saturday night. Premiere Party Pass: This pass will get you into: all films in the Jackpot Premieres Program and all evening Festival parties. This pass does NOT allow entry to the CineVegas HQ. Dates Valid: From June 9, 2006 to June 17, 2006. Price: $200.00.

There is also a Student Pass for $100 and a Local Filmlovers Pass for $100.00.

"X” at The V Theatre. On Wednesday we went to the 9PM pre-show cocktail party for “X: An Erotic Adventure” at the Aladdin’s “V” Theatre and then on to the 10:30PM show.

The eight classically trained dancers are all individually featured. The music was too loud – my eyes started to bleed - but the standing room only audience loved the “X” dancers and their renditions of Fiona Apple's "Criminal," Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away," Kid Rock's "Cowboy" and Creed's "One Last Breath." Other highlights included two women sharing a vertically suspended bed, a lingerie model performing acrobatic moves on a bearskin rug and a dancer draped around a flowing sheet high above the audience. The show, while called “An Erotic Adventure” is family friendly – it is not a topless show.

Price: $45.00 (General Admission), $56.00 (VIP) Price Note: May not include all taxes and fees. Show Times: 10:30 p.m. Saturday – Thursday, Show Dates: Ongoing; Dark: Fridays; Reservations: Reservations Suggested; Age Restrictions: Must be 18 years of age or older. “X Girls” V Theatre at Aladdin, 3667 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas , NV 89109. Call For Reservations: (702) 492-3960. www.Aladdin.com

Where Are They? Enrico Fermi asked a famous question: "Where are they? Shouldn't their presence be obvious?" Given at least 10 billion years for the existence of the Milky Way galaxy, one would think that intelligence would have developed before ours and be common not only throughout our galaxy but the crowded Universe. National Geographic Channel ran a program on the continued search for intelligent life – so far fruitless - and mentioned a new, inspired plan of sending out, across the Universe, bright bursts of light. What if aliens were not using radio transmissions? What if they weren’t watching “I Love Lucy” reruns or listening to Adolph Hitler’s speeches?

Why not send “an intergalactic SOS!”

The only thing I could find online was news about our looking for a light signal from them – passive exploration. According to the Associated Press, “a new telescope at an observatory outside Boston will become a key tool in the search for extraterrestrials as scientists try to detect light signals from distant civilizations. An optical telescope dedicated Tuesday at the Oak Ridge Observatory is the first to be used exclusively for a project called the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. The scientists who will use the Oak Ridge telescope believe extraterrestrials may be just as likely to communicate with high-intensity, tightly focused light beams carrying information as they are to use radio transmissions.”

Frank Drake, the originator of the famous Drake Equation, estimated that at least 10,000 advanced civilizations exist in the Milky Way Galaxy. Carl Sagan raised the estimate to 1,000,000. And no one has heard a peep out of any of them.

Bonefish Grill Opens in Henderson, Nevada. On Wednesday we left our homestead in Peccole Ranch for Henderson. John recently had dinner at the Bonefish Grill in Tampa, Florida and was looking forward to our dinner at the chain’s first venue in Las Vegas. We actively campaigned with the Managing Partners for a Bonefish Grill in Summerlin.

The meal was widely praised by all as being a triumph. Along with our dinner companions, we tried the Bang Bang Shrimp (BFG’s specialty), Crispy Calamari, and Coconut Crusted Shrimp. I chose the Pistachio Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout while John had the Sea Bass. I also tried BFG’s very strong Georgia Peach martini. We ended the absolutely superb meal with Chocolate Macadamia Nut Brownie Cake served with raspberry sauce, creamy vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream and a home-made Deep Dish Key Lime Pie with graham cracker and roasted pecan crust, topped with fresh whipped cream. If you do not live in Henderson, this is a good reason to go across town. Bonefish Grill, 10839 Eastern Avenue, Henderson, NV 89052. 702-228-3474. www.bonefishgrill.com

What Did The Buddha Really Say? Religious scholars are now convinced that Jesus probably didn’t say much that anyone could have remembered. (“The Gospel of Jesus According to the Jesus Seminar” is a composite gospel created by a group of scholars who decided they were not happy with The New Testament. They wanted to create their own version! Robert W. Funk says in the Introduction: “The selection of anecdotes and sayings was dictated by the decisions of the Fellows of the Jesus Seminar and reported in The Five Gospels and The Acts of Jesus.”) Everything attributed to Jesus in The New Testament gospels was made up! These scholars are certain that nobody could actually remember what Jesus said. It was hashed together decades later!

While oral tradition is accepted as a part of many ancient, as well as Native American cultures, it was not something Jesus’ followers did.*

I’d like to quote several sections from “Tibet’s Terrifying Deities: Sex and Aggression in Religious Acculturation” by F. Sierksma.

Regarding the “End of the Doctrine” which was deemed imminent by Buddhist monks, Sieksma writes: “[The monks] must have felt that in preaching the cold and hard Doctrine they were giving the people stones for bread. Nor can one imagine that the obvious thought did not occur to them, that if all laymen became monks, the monks would have nothing to eat. Consciously or unconsciously they must have felt the dilemma: either to risk being left in the lurch, or to attach the laymen by watering down the wine of the Doctrine.”

Watering down Buddha’s doctrine? I’m shocked. What exactly did The Buddha preach? Further on, Sieksma continues:

“In principle, this admission was made in the Mah?y?na by the monks, who in their monasteries depended on economic support from outside, besides having difficulty with their own doctrine. The former ideals were not destroyed, but theoretically pushed into the background, and practically shelved. Nowadays one might say that they had been put into deep-freeze, as the Christians have had to do in another, comparable connection with the Sermon on the Mount. For the philosophers, the name of the compromise was Voidness, for the people bodhisattva.”

“Thus Buddhism, in which god and prayer had been unknown, acquired buddhistically tinged gods, to whom one could pray. Whereas the Buddha had declared that he could do nothing in the matter as to which of his disciples reached nirvana and which did not, the bodhisattvas became saviours to be adored and prayed to.”

Sieksma sums up Buddhism as follows: “Yet if one wishes to describe the history of this religion as a component part of a society and culture, then a sense of historical proportion demands that already the Mah?y?na – not to mention the later Vajray?na – should be regarded as a wholesale perversion of the Doctrine.”

Burlesque Legends. On Friday, May 26th I was invited by screen legend Liz Renay to the Celebrity Theatre for a “Performer/Press Meet & Greet Cocktail Hour” for the 49th Annual Striptease Reunion & Living Legends Showcase. The Exotic World Burlesque Museum's annual Miss Exotic World Pageant & Striptease Reunion has moved to Las Vegas for this their 16th year. All Memorial Day weekend they held Meets & Greets while performers vied for the title of Miss Exotic World.

The divine comedian/actress Margaret Cho (Cho’s concert film, “Notorious C.H.O.”, is X-rated and hysterical) was featured host. http://www.exoticworldusa.org/

On hand on Friday was legend Tempest Storm (pictured on left in 2001 and below in her heyday) who moved back to Las Vegas in February. Besides Liz and 78 year-old Tempest, the weekend featured vintage burlesque vixens Dixie Evans, Dee Milo, Kitten Natividad, Lottie "The Body" Graves, Marinka, Ricci Cortez, Satan's Angel, and Toni Elling.

When Liz’s dear friend Polly Peluso told me that the burlesque legends would actually be stripping (but not during the Meet & Greets), I remembered seeing a Mamie van Doren nude taken recently and posted on various celebrity blogs. It is proudly displayed on Mamie’s website www.mamievandoren.com. Take a look yourself! I don’t know about you, but should someone whose Media Birth Date is 1931 pose naked even if it is air-brushed and hand-painted to perfection?

Hidden Geometry. If you think Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code” was right on the mark about the hidden messages in Leonardo Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper,” than I have another book for you. In “The Tomb of God: The Body of Jesus and the Solution to a 2,000-Year-Old Mystery” by Richard Andrews and Paul Schellenberger, the authors investigate sacred geometry in paintings that supposedly reveal the exact location where Jesus is buried. Apparently, Mary Magdalene wasn’t alone when she skipped off to France. One painting, “Les Bergers d’ Arcadie ll” by Nicolas Poussin (pictured below), supports their theory.

Poussin’s The Shepards of Arcadia, dated 1640, shows some shepherds standing close to a sarcophagus with one of them indicating the inscription: Et in Arcadia Ego (“And in Arcadia, I”). It was said that the tomb really existed near Rennes-le-Château in the village of Arques. The painting was deemed accurate by matching the mountain profile with the real one. The legend says that buried in Rennes-le-Château (and found by parish priest Abbé Bérenger Saunière - he of ‘The Da Vinci Code” fame and pictured at left) were documents confirming that Jesus Christ had come to live in France with his family and that his child initiated a dynasty which eventually became known as the Merovingian Kings of France.

Poussin painted this phrase Et in Arcadia ego which could be anagrammatized as I! Tego arcana dei, meaning: “Go away! I hold the secrets of God.”

Excavations (permitted by The Vatican) conducted by Professor Robert Eisenman (of the Dead Sea Scrolls fame) from the University of California at Long Beach, and Professor Andrea Baratollo from Italy, beneath the Tour Magdala at Rennes-le-Château on August 20, 2003 in search of treasure yielded negative results. Professors Eisenman and Baratollo had both been working on this project since April 2001.

Classical Mystery Tour at Las Vegas Hilton. On Sunday evening we went to the Las Vegas Hilton for a special one-night only concert. All the music we know so well, but this time, The Beatles-In-Spirit played in concert accompanied by a symphony orchestra.

This was the best concert I have seen in Las Vegas.

The Fab Four musicians performed some 30 Beatles tunes sung, played, and performed exactly as they were written. "Penny Lane" had a live trumpet section and "Yesterday" was performed with an acoustic guitar and string quartet. The concert went from early Beatles music on through each member’s solo years.

If this concert comes to your town, do not pass it up! Frankly, it’s the only way to listen to “She Loves You.” I checked their tour schedule and they are not coming back to Las Vegas! We must start a campaign! However, The Classic Mystery Tour will be playing June 17 with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Fort Worth and on July 2 they will be performing with the Belleayre Pops Orchestra in Highmount, New York. http://classicalmysterytour.com

Classical Mystery Tour features Jim Owen (John Lennon) on rhythm guitar, piano, and vocals; Tony Kishman (Paul McCartney) on bass guitar, piano, and vocals; Tom Teeley (George Harrison) on lead guitar and vocals; and Chris Camilleri (Ringo Starr) on drums and vocals. Martin Herman conducts the brilliant symphony orchestra.

The ticket price for Sunday’s May 28 9:00 PM concert at the Las Vegas Hilton Theater was from $55 to $70 (plus tax and service charge). Call the Hilton Box Office at 1-800-222-5361 and ask them to book another Classical Mystery Tour concert. http://www.lvhilton.com/entertainment/mystery.shtml

Merovingian Royals Had No Middle Eastern DNA. On Sunday, May 21st The History Channel’s “Digging For The Truth” ran an episode called “The Da Vinci Code: Bloodlines.” Host Josh Bernstein searched for solid evidence behind the controversial theory laid out in Dan Brown's book The Da Vinci Code. As the world knows by now, Brown's theory claims that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and that she conceived a child. It also suggests that the bloodline continues unbroken to this day. Unfortunately, the DNA taken from a Merovingian queen and then analyzed alongside the DNA taken from modern day inhabitants from the area of Jesus’ birth, showed no chromosomal “signature” characteristic of Middle Eastern people. Clovis I (pictured) was the first important ruler of the Merovingian Dynasty and is considered the founder of the French State. Can you see any resemblance?

May 25, 2006 ET Prediction Comes True! In April 24th TDH column, I told you that Eric Julien (pictured) had predicted that there was a high probability that a fragment of the comet 73P Schwassmann-Wachmann would impact the Earth on or around May 25, 2006. Because Julien’s prediction of an “alien message of mass destruction” sparked tsunami panic in Morocco, he was unceremoniously bumped from the Exopolitics Institute. However, I kept an eye on Julien’s prediction and guess what has happened?

Early Saturday morning on May 26th, a powerful earthquake flattened buildings in central Indonesia killing over 5000 people (so far) and injuring thousands of others. 200,000 were homeless as of Sunday. The magnitude 6.2 quake struck at 5:54 a.m. near the southwest of the city of Yogyakarta, 250 miles east of the capital, Jakarta. http://www.savelivesinmay.com/

What I didn’t know – in April - was that Julien was getting his information from ETs.

Blind Item. The New York Daily News Rush & Molloy ran the blind item listed below and Gawker.com asked if it was an “Ivanka Trump blind item?”

“Which seemingly demure daughter of a megawatt New York business leader has a lesser-known wild side? The Teutonic twentysomething recently lured a sexy female club employee into the bathroom at a West Chelsea hotspot with promises of cocaine. Once inside, she dutifully provided the drugs, along with some same-sex smooching.”

* “The Mishnah, ‘What is Repeated,’ is the codification of the memorized oral tradition finally put in writing about 200CE by Rabbi Judah the Prince.” (“Shamanism and the Drug Propaganda: Patriarchy and the Drug War” by Dan Russell (p. 217).
